My predictions:

First, I want to reveal my trending words.

The words "inevitable", "voluntary", and "compensate" are not common words, but not extremely rare. I think they will be more common in 2025. I think "inevitable" will become a meme word. Same to "cinder block", whose sound effect was trending in, I think, 2022, and "unhinged", a word that I've been seeing in a comedic light but hasn't become a meme. I think "unhinged" will be the fusion of brainrot and cringe. The phrase "X is incorrect. It's actually Y. Z is an outlier and should not have been counted." I believe will trend this year. Also, we will be getting a new meme from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. For some reason I'm thinking it's going to be "Are you crazy, I was just gonna tell you your fly is down!"

The words "entropy", "vertigo", and "hubris will be trending in 2025, and there will be a significant uptick in "lobotomy", a word I am hearing often. "_____ effect" will also be trending in 2025, an evolution from TikTok's "_____ theory". However, I think "butterfly effect" in particular will be trending. The metaphor "diamond in the rough" and the phrase "memento mori" will also be common. And "maritime", a word much less common than "inevitable", "voluntary", or "compensate", might get a boost in commoner lingo.

Foods like oyster and cream soda will be popular in 2025. I also imagine "muscat" will be an aesthetic word, but cherries will take the cake as 2025's most popular fruit and flavor. Along with cherry, raspberry, blackberry, mint, and pistachio flavors will be popular. Five Guys will also have some frequency fatigue.

The colors mauve, magenta, cherry red, black cherry, mint, and pistachio will be trending colors. And, keeping in the spirit of Y2K and the 20-year trend cycle, we should be seeing more metallic stuff. Jewel tones will also be popular.

The aesthetics new wave and new romantic will be trending, especially among people who want to dip their toes into being leftists by gaining a new aesthetic but are scared to change their beliefs too much (me). Auroracore will also be popular this year, though likely not as "auroracore" as the "-core" suffix has been beaten to the ground.

Different types of "deres" have been popular around the years. You likely heard of yandere. You probably heard of tsundere and kuudere as well. But I think himedere, as well as its non-dere equivalent ojousama, will trend this year. Also, "denpa" will be trending.

People will get more into books, particularly of Franz Kafka, Emily Dickinson, and Virginia Woolf. I'm just feeling it's gonna be those three. Though, there is definitely a trend for all dystopia books getting popular, especially Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell. In relation to Kafka, I think "Kafkaesque" will be a common word,

Apothecary will have a rise this year, as well as the eucalyptus scent. Zodiac signs, particularly rising signs, may be popular. And I would say Pilates if not for the fact that Pilates has been trending for a long time in communities I'm not part of and has since died.

While not in a violent right, I think the public's response to the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione will evolve as different, similar events arise. Though I am probably just an optimist. I saw a YouTube video that put it best: Luigi Mangione is a meme, not a movement.

VTubers will expand upon the game streaming and just chatting and ASMR spheres and expand amongst many different topics and be popular with it. Also I think they'll find solidarity with the "animation is cinema" crowd. What would be the VTuber equivalent of "animation is cinema"? "VTubers are influential?" A 22-year-old business graduate will start a non-streaming VTuber agency and provide no support to their talents. And VTuber groups (different from agencies) like Eonia will find massive success and groups will be considered the cash cow.

Generative AI, particularly ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion and Gemini, will be at is peak. It will have most of its success but also most of its criticism in 2025. I expect regulations will still be blurry and nothing major will be done with it until at least early 2026. Though, to be fair, there will definitely be huge brands that make the AI equivalent of the 2024 crypto game "Captain Laserhawk: The Game" in 2028. I am an optimist, and not much of a realist.

Well... I made a few more acquaintances...

Fun fact: because of my weird high school IEP at the time, which let me go home early or get excused absences from school, COVID-19 did not affect me as much as the average person! At least physically. It definitely did mentally degrade me as much as the average person because of the world being "shut down".

But 2020 was the thing that made my 2021 and 2022 so great! So I'm happy to announce that 2024 is the WORST FUCKING YEAR OF THE DECADE

Just because I was the lucky one and didn't get something huge taken away from me doesn't mean I left unscathed. Or anyone really.

Worldwide

  • What was happening all over the world with wars and more importantly genocide, especially in Gaza - Even if the genocide increased in October 7, 2023 it is still going on in 2024 with absolutely no sign of stopping. They have recently targeted 2 schools, for example.
  • Trump won. That's all I need to say.
  • Laws are getting worse and worse. I swore we only had one good law instated in the US.

Pop culture

  • I already mentioned it in posts below. There's a mix of good (like Wild Robot nominations and Kimi to Idol) and bad news (ex. theaters are dying, only one movie at a time is succeeding (except Wicked, Moana, and Gladiator are doing pretty good actually)).
  • TikTok ban obviously stemming from Sinophobia (and somewhat Zionism).
  • The BlueSky migration should've gone sooner lol - we tried in February but it didn't really work until November!

Online personal things

  • I have lost the drive for my YouTube channel as well as Fandom of Pretty Cure.
    • The YouTube channel one hurts the hardest because all I submitted is a single, currently unlisted video.
    • The Pretty Cure one had a few more drawings to do, and some pages were made, but my drive to finish the pages I have made or continue creating new ones has almost completely halted. My last four original (not seiyuu) page creations were Hibari Town (the town in VWPC), Infinite Smile Precure episode 1, and the pages for Haruhi and Blythe, all made in early October. Which doesn't seem like much but it's a lot to me.
  •  My recommendations skewered to self help and YouTube detox in August and September for some reason and I did not take those lessons to heart.

Personal things

  • House fires. Three separate ones, including my house.
    • No, my house did not actually burn down. The kitchen was slightly damaged, we got rid of a rug, and no major injuries. And that fire was my fault because I was like "oh that person'll get it, I'm too busy watching TikTok" but that person was in the bathroom. Luckily, this sparked me into deleting TikTok on my phone and put major limits on my iPad TikTok use to the point of partial quitting (I couldn't delete it off my iPad because of drafts).
    • The other was a house fire (that was stopped by neighbors before the house could actually burn down) while the tenants were not in the building. This was because a gas fireplace the tenants were explicitly told not to touch was turned on before the tenants left. At the very least, plants and uncased candles were damaged.
    • The last one... was recent. That's all I'll say.
  • Two car crashes, one of a neighbor, none fatal.
  • My sibling's school suspension.
  • My dad got laid off.

The things I'm most happy about this year are secret. Though my Bluesky has hints about what those things are.

How it feels to be a Dandadan fan and a social media lurker 😔

AyoTaledo made a post saying "Sorry Dandadan fans that your fandom is being called Klanklaklan" that's how bad it is because, I think you can guess already, the controversy is about a race change edit of Momo and Okarun where they're Black.

I don't know the deeper details because I don't want to see all the racism but I do know the editor, a minor, at minimum privated their account (it's back now as of this afternoon), and that Okarun's English VA, AJ Beckles, who is Black, supported the edit, made it his profile picture, but got harassed so much his X account was deleted.

This is like week-old news, however, this was the day I found out that a VTuber agency tried to hire A NINE YEAR OLD to their company. Disgusting.

More news because December is the month of news I guess

  • The Wild Robot has gotten 4 Golden Globe nominations - best original score, best original song, best animated picture, and cinematic box office achievement. The only animated movies to get that much nominations there are Beauty and the Beast (also with four) and Aladdin (with six).
  • Hailey Welch introduced a memecoin called HAWK which is accused of being a rug pull scam and she will have to "talk tuah" lawyer about that.
  • It's been 373 days since "Plagarism and You(Tube)" by hbomberguy has come out.
  • Spotify Wrapped released on December 4th to negative results. People have said it's the worst Wrapped yet. It includes spinning gradient rectangles as its main graphic, vague, non-music genre meshes (for some reason mine are normal, January was "weirdcore romantic jazz elevator music"), and a collaboration with Google's note-taking and podcast-style summary AI, NotebookLM, which says amazing things such as "can't forget September 11th" and "Panic at the Dick"
  • It's prediction month. Colors of the year, trend predictions, and BENOFTHEWEEK's news predictions have come out.
    • Pinterests Predicts 2025: Cherry red color, aura-inspired new wave makeup, siren makeup, rococo, chainmail accessories, cream soda (which Pinterest takes as a 1950s rebel aesthetic but it's totally not that lol), solarpunk 🫢, moto boots, and interestingly, game avatar codes.
    • Pantone Color of the Year 2025: Mocha mousse, a soft, medium-value brown. Other color companies' colors of the year are similar browns, dark reds, and dark purples. This is probably the year of that one design prediction I made for the purple Kimi to Idol Cure.
    • BENOFTHEWEEK: A right wing influencer will gain a position in the whitehouse, Kim Jong Un will visit America, Harvey Weinstein will die, WorldofTShirts will get better, and Sabrina Carpenter will crash out are among Ben's theories. He also does a jumpcut joke of "Trump will die" but I'm not taking that seriously. As... with the other predictions. 😛 Yeah.
    • Nostradamus: I just heard of Nostradamus and need to know more about him. His 2025 predictions may or may not be that there could be an end to the Ukraine war but there will be a bunch more plague and wars to come, there will be explosions in the sky, a natural disaster in Brazil, and the rise of an aquatic empire.
    • I'm just waiting for a ModernGurlz video, though I'm pretty sure they all came out the year of, not before.
  • The fall of the Assad regime in Syria happened on December 8, 2024? What the!? How did I only find out just now??
    • (December 10) I think this is how the media treated the uprising in Bangladesh as well. I am seeing more stuff about Syria than Bangladesh but I didn't see nearly enough about Bangladesh than national controversies at the time, same to Syria.
  •  Also, I am holding in the urge to make a Find Luigi joke.

Update (December 10): Since November 15, 2024, there's been a postal workers strike in Canada. Keep that in mind!
Also, I don't know much about the situation but a judge has blocked The Onion from buying InfoWars.

Kimi to Idol leak

I know I should be civil and say I'm neutral but I believe the leaked character design is real. The most anatomically correct leaks end up being real.

Someone rumored the Kimi to Idol designs, at least for the lead, would look like Cure Heart, and said rumorer says about this image, "Well, someone finally leaked it."

I'm glad we have such a crazy hairstyle, she has a high ponytail, a bow formed by her hair (I wish I knew what they were called), and twindrills! I wish luck for the Pretty Style dolls and Halloween costume makers to make her hair (the kigurumi stylers might be fine though since the outfits are made for adults and they probably have less restraints)

News

  • The 13th president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, has declared martial law (for 6 hours because of giant protests) a few days ago and somehow I only found out now. There was an attempted impeachment of Yoon, but only 195 of the 200 lawmakers needed were present at the event so it had to be cancelled.
  • The CEO of UnitedHealthcare has been shot dead after an investor meeting. The ammunition casing says "deny", "defend", and "depose".
  • Barry Keoghan, the lead in Saltburn, has allegedly been cheating on Sabrina Carpenter. Huge turn. Someone has said he looked like a bull terrier. Another person said it was an insult to bull terriers.
  • In the Project Sekai Autumn tournament 2024, one of the songs was Jinsei (Append, of course) and the user REN got a full combo on that song with 2,240 perfects and 2 greats.
  • I almost lost my flower pillow cushion on the last day of the semester. Luckily it was a quick trip back.
  • I submitted 4 videos for class in the span of two days. Four videos which all should've been twice as long as the length I submitted them in. Somehow I did that and the 3 Duolingo daily quests.
  • Strategy by TWICE and Megan Thee Stallion is so good guys
  • The last day of the semester can be stressful but for some reason that was a really good day. It's probably because I got a lot of compliments.

Okay yeah I have 24H2!

As you may know, Windows Recall is a very controversial feature. I won't explain it here. It is only on CoPilot+ computers (my computer came out right before CoPilot so my computer is not one of them) and I think its version has to be very early. But I still got those O&O apps.

It looks like the top bars on the programs are thinner? But I also have a computer setting that puts it to sleep automatically and I think the update did it for once. It used to not do it, like at all, likely because it was so used to me playing Spotify on it while sleeping (bad idea)

 Had a bad argument

also got O&O ShutUp10 and O&O AppBuster. No more Game Bar. No more Microsoft Family. Hope it works but if it doesn't there's always system restore.

If I had 10,000 dollars...

I would probably conduct a SynthV chorus where I made all the women sing whatever I want. And I would also buy music production material an...
