What happened to Make a Wish?

If you noticed... Make a Wish Pretty Cure is gone! Why?

It's a racist series, short and simple! My sources for that series is "just be a regular human being and do extensive research and not do what Aladdin did" and I took that... and made a series with a genie that's lazy and sings about the bazaar of miracles and a fox named Sahara.

Also, I just realized the name is much too similar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I think I may need to write an apology about that series on the discussion board.

But you may notice that the series is replaced. What is Mushi Deka Pretty Cure!? Well, that's Maboroshi Detective Pretty Cure's new name! I hope you're excited for it!

I didn't do much changes to Maboroshi Detective since I made it. Besides the title change...

  • I changed Ichika's Cure name from Cure Honey to Cure Abeille (bee in French) so she isn't confused with Cure Honey. However, in the Euphonia Timeline, Cure Honey has been renamed to Cure Tender, so... should I change it back? My ignorance made the Cure Abeille name public...
  •  I changed Soyogi's surname from Sakurai to Kocho because Sakurai was later taken by Sayaka Sakurai from Pretty Cure WORLDWIDE!, which I'm not sure if I introduced it to the blog yet. The surname "Kocho" is more closely related to Soyogi's motif, the butterfly.
    • Note, however, because of Soyogi Soyogi (as well as Soyoka Soyokaze and Soyo Ibara from other Haruka Hibino series), I may have to change Soyogi's first name too.'
  • Mirage Akashi's real name is Tsutsuji Akashi. Why hide her first name but not the more incriminating last name? I don't know. I'll have to figure that out.
  •  I changed the names of the Gokiburuze to Gokibururu. I don't know, I just that sounded better to me. It's a pun on "gokiburi" for cockroach, and "brrrrrr". I was on Google translate and typed that in and I thought it sounded cooler.

I may do some more political correctness for the Euphonia Timeline. I know people say "don't let the haters get to you" but... haters? Who's hating on Aurima being Eimi's "brown best friend" more than myself?

Oh, I changed Takara Tsukuda's name to Eimi Manaka. I don't know if I told you. I want to update Coralie and Jade Yukimura's pages, too, but not for name changes.

  • I don't know if I will actually change her name but I will admit it, Kokoro Akamine's name is as such because I wanted her to have a Japanese name like the other three. While Iori and Rei's counterparts, Egon and Ray, are Jewish, they are also white so I can just make Iori and Rei Japanese and Jewish (which I have done for Reine but that's another regret, not pointing out Iori, Rei, Kimi, and Itaru are Jewish), Kokoro's counterpart,Winston, is 100% Black so it's not my place to make her 25% Japanese.
  • But what WILL change about Chojo Gensho is episode 2 (or 3?). It has Rei being accepted into the Heavenly Kingdom by two rhino guards because she is blonde, but Konatsu and Iori are denied because they were brunette, which was supposed to lead to an episode where Kokoro is unaccepted because she is Black. Yeah, no. Fuck that. Not only is Rei a redhead and Iori is blonde now, but in what way is this storyline... okay?
  • And what I also hope to change about Chojo Gensho is Meili Lei's ethnicity. She is based on a Hispanic character, Melanie Ortiz. And just because Meili's name is Meili Lei doesn't mean she can't be Hispanic. The reason why I made Meili Chinese is because the way the Ghostbusters found Melanie in canon was on a trip across America, so I wanted Meili to be close to where the Chojo Gensho girls lived, but not too close, so I chose China. The thing is... Japan is an island. I don't think you can go from Japan to China by foot in any capacity. Also the Chojo Gensho girls don't meet Meili via a road trip! Konatsu first meets Meili while the latter is on duty as a police officer... in Japan. And while I brought up that just because Meili is Chinese and born in China doesn't mean she's not Hispanic, I made Meili when I was 14-15 and didn't know Hispanic wasn't a race 🤦. So yeah. That was to be changed.

Other things that could be considered problematic:

  • Ophiuchus being inspired by George Kurai and thus they both share weird relationships with their respective protagonists. I think I toned it down for Ophiuchus years ago but I need to reread the page... I'm just scared.
  • Heavy metal being antagonized in Pretty Cure La La La! despite it being a very positive genre... when you're not looking at it in a vacuum. Princess Carnage, and by proxy Kotone, are inspired by Barb, and thus they get redeemed, but I need to make it obvious neither are pure evil.
  • The whole concept of La La La. It's like a Let's Go Luna style show where the girls go all over the world to meet others. But I feel like that reinforces overtourism.
  • Kumiko Konoe, especially her relationship towards Hoshi Nijihara, is probably ageist and sexist.
  • Again, I feel like Aurima is just the Indian best friend of Eimi. I gave her a fatal flaw... defending others problematic actions. What, does her life not matter?
  • Miwa Aizawa's faceclaim is Yuzu Aihara from Citrus. Why does that anime have such a pretty art style?
  • I was gonna make Kureha Mizuki Romani at some point. But after seeing feedback from Romani people, I figured it's a really bad idea, as the Romani culture is a closed culture.
  • The Lunar Pretty Cure being Japanese is a bit more forgivable but the Dragon's Book cast? I got away with it at first because Kung Fu Panda was loose inspiration, but now, it's a closer adaptation and the kung fu master's name is Tatsu? How come all nine characters, including Syun's brother, are Japanese in a story  is not shy to take place in China? I don't care that Jack Black is not Chinese.
  • Most of the twins in the Euphonia Timeline are not good representations of twins. The most obvious case is Cat and Kat from Nightmare Fantasy, who I may or may not remove, seeing neither of them have pages. Renata and Tosca, with their whole personalities being "yin and yang", fall into this, too. I feel like I avoided this with the fraternal twins Junko and Sayuri, though. And I hope I can avoid it with Hitomi and Futaba with Fruity Girls.
  • Some may claim the Amitié cures are whitewashed. I say, technically not when they're voiced by four white women and one of them is sometimes voiced by who I'm guessing is a half-Asian half-white woman when she sings (Kazumi Evans - it seems clear cut but it's better to be safe than sorry). Except there is some concept art of Twilight Sparkle as a human with dark skin. Idk she'd probably still be voiced by Tara Strong 😐. But also they technically are whitewashed because I imagined Aira to be brown, especially when her name was still Sumiko, but the Picrew I used only had pale skin so I took advantage of the fact nobody saw Sumiko's appearance before and made Aira pale.
  • Pollulu being unconsciously named after "delulu", short for "delusional", which is considered to be a slur.
  • The ethics of the Merm4id girls being aged down but Michiru remaining the same age.
  • The New Dreams Pretty Cure acronym being "NDPC", like "neuro-divergent pretty cure", and the lead Cure being interested in trains.
  • Natsumi Isaki can be considered an antisemitic character, or at least her fantasy creature can be. The alternatives are not much better, she'd have to be an elf to fix that problem.
  • How are Miwa Aizawa and Keiko Hibiki supposed to work in a kid's show?
  • Removing Hinata and Tsumugi's blood relation to each other as Zeus and Hera.
  • The villains from Carnival Kind are based on characters pretty much transphobic and homophobic but the movie's such a cult classic it warped itself around to being "woooooosh". I ended up calling the Rocky Horror characters "transexual transvestites" (I'm genderfluid but uhhh) like Frankenfurter did to himself (and himself only iirc).
  • Charcoal Jones will either be fine or not fine. Same with Jaya.
  • Brownie from Reverie Rainbow. Brownie is named after a fairy but you know that it's gross to call any brown person that.

If I had 10,000 dollars...

I would probably conduct a SynthV chorus where I made all the women sing whatever I want. And I would also buy music production material an...
